Class 6a enjoyed a wonderful Autumn walk around the school grounds, exploring the changing season and spotting signs of Autumn all around them. The children collected colourful leaves, twigs and pinecones to bring back to the classroom. Back inside, they used their treasures to create an exciting Autumn exploration tray, where they crunched leaves, painted with Autumn scented paints, and explored the rich smells and textures of spices like cinnamon, tumeric, and nutmeg. It was a sensory-filled activity that helped them experience the magic of Autumn through touch, smell and creativity.
The hands-on experience allowed the children to take ownership of their learning, as they chose their own items and used their own thoughts and ideas to shape the activities that followed.
