Equine Therapy for class 6a

22nd May 2026

Class 6a have been thoroughly enjoying their weekly equine therapy sessions with Julie at Ashlee Riding Centre, kindly funded by Jarlath McNulty through the Strabane Health Improvement Project.

During the sessions, the pupils take part in a wide range of engaging activities including brushing and caring for the horses, dressing them with bows, walking them around the arena and completing fun tasks such as lifting toys, throwing beanbags through hoops and guiding the horses along the new outdoor nature trail.

The children have been reaping many benefits from the programme, including developing confidence, communication, coordination and emotional regulation skills. It has been wonderful to watch their independence and relationships grow each week through these calm, sensory-rich experiences.

We are very grateful to Julie, Jarlath McNulty and the Strabane Health Improvement Project for providing such a valuable and enjoyable opportunity for our pupils.
