On Thursday 8th December Knockavoe School had the privilege and PLEASURE OF HOSTING 'STRABANE CAROLS' A  feast of music and entertainment for and by the local community.  This was the first official public event in 'The Den' (Melmount Centre) for many years and we were delighted to welcome our friends and families into what is an amazing venue for a wonderful night of entertainment.  Knockavoe School Choir were joined on the night by Choirs from St Marys PS with The Battle of Jericho and Follow the Star, and St Catherines PS choir with their Mary Poppins medley and The Holly and the Ivy. Local theatre group 'Much ado' Stage School provided theatrical music and dance with their renditions of HairSpray and Annie. Class Act Theatre Senior singers performed We will do One Day More, Seasons of Love And Tidings of good joy & Mary Did You Know. We had collaboration performances on Samba drums led by Ronan Kee and choir medleys on stage with all performers.  Solo performances from Shane Farrell and 2 Elvis' (thanks to Lee and Paul) were a resounding success.  Music to Your Eyes gave us clap along songs and tear jerking renditions of songs such as Rockin' around the Christmas Tree , Snowflake and When a child is born.  The night was jollied along by Joseph Carlin from Derry to ensure the banter and craic was kept going.  A big thank you to everyone who took part and to our fabulous audience who came along and supported an clapped and cheered and sang along on the night. Congratulations to our raffle draw winners - supported by our staff and families who donated enough gifts to fill 31 hampers. Thanks also to donations from Houston Homewares - who decorated the stage from their wonderful shop. To Shane and Kevin from AVC who provided us with such amazing light and sound on the night. And TO THOSE WHO MADE DONATIONS OF PRIZES - Barrett School of Irish Dancing, Aisling Mc Nulty, Linda Jackson, TJH Gifts, John Fahy Solicitors, Holden Fuels, Dalys Fuels.  Nothing on this scale is possible to organise without an amazing team of staff, friends and workers and so our biggest thank you must go to Catriona, and all the staff of Knockavoe School for their dedication and hard work into providing what was a very festive start to the Christmas celebrations.
