The letter from Cllr’s Brian, Caroline & Paul thanks the Knockavoe Student Council, pupils, and staff for inviting the visitors to meet with them. The visitors say they were very impressed and inspired by what they saw during their visit, especially how Makaton is used to support communication in the school.
They explain that seeing Makaton used by pupils and staff showed how effective and important it is. Because of this, they plan to bring a motion to the Council asking them to explore ways Makaton could be used more widely in the community, such as in play parks, leisure centres, council events, and public buildings.
The letter ends by thanking the school again for the warm welcome and recognising the important work the Student Council does to make pupils’ voices heard.
